After decades of mental illness being shrouded in secrecy and shame, ignored, ridiculed or feared, there has been something of a revolution in the past couple of years.
For 44 years, Iranians have been living in captivity, but with the death of Mahsa Jina Amini, they are no longer willing to tolerate life under the Islamic Republic and have spearheaded the largest women's rights movement of our century, which has also been supported by the Iranian diaspora. Despite challenges such as poor journalism, propaganda, and politicians supporting the wrong organizations, the Iranian diaspora continues to fight for the liberty of their people by becoming activists, journalists, and educators, with the goal of overthrowing the brutal regime and replacing it with a secular, democratic government.
