The Chancellor of First Technical University, Ibadan, Chief Tunde Alabi has called on Federal Government and other stakeholders in the education sector to improve the country’s educational system.
Alabi stated that revitalising the education sector will make more Nigerians developed and civilized.
He made this call on Monday while speaking at a farewell programme organised for the late First Tech-U Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Prof Oye Ibidapo-Obe.
Alabi noted that that late Ibidapo-Obe convinced many to support and invest in the nation’s education sector, describing him as a dedicated scholar and administrator who lived to move the education sector forward.

Following the second wave of the coronavirus in Nigeria which has resulted in a considerable spike in infections in Anambra State in the last two weeks, Governor Willie Obiano has made a passionate appeal to the people to shield themselves from the pandemic.
“Reports from across Anambra State show a huge increase in the incidence which if not arrested now will produce a catastrophic result in the near future”, Chief Obiano stated in a special message to ndi Anambra on Thursday, according to a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr C. The scholar passed away Sunday afternoon.
The management of UNILAG has confirmed his death.
Olayinka Balogun, Registrar and Secretary to the Governing Council, prayed for the repose of the deceased’s soul.
“With heavy heart, and submission to the will of God, I write to inform Council members of the transition to glory of Professor Oye Ibidapo-Obe, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, First Technical University, Ibadan which occurred today 03/01/2021”, he noted.
Ibidapo-Obe was born on July 5, 1949 in Ile Ife, Osun State.
He attended Lagos Street African Church Primary School, Ebute-Metta (1955 – 1961); Obokun High School/Ilesa Grammar School (1962 – 1966); and later Igbobi College, Yaba, (1966–1968).
