On Aug. 8, the worst wildfire Hawaii has ever seen killed 115 people, decimated resident homes and wreaked havoc on Maui’s ecosystems. The cause of the fire was power lines that fell from powerful hurricane winds. Lives were lost as a result of public safety’s failure to activate the sirens on the islands, climate change.
