How do you think these challenges can be mitigated to access equitable and quality health service delivery? The first step would be to build an all-inclusive health care system that does not discriminate based on the ability to pay. Our current model is predominantly out of pocket payment and as a result, many families are unable to pay and many more are impoverished by crushing hospital bills once there is a major health challenge.

Doctors urge Nigerians to accept COVID-19 vaccine

By Fri Feb 12 2021 The Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria (MDCAN), yesterday, called on Nigerians to accept the COVID-19 vaccine when available in the country, saying, “The benefits of the vaccine far outweigh any perceived risks.” The group said the information available to it showed that the vaccine was safe and that therefore people should not be scared to accept it, explaining that all hands must be on deck to fight against the disease. In a press briefing in Jos, Professor Ken Ozoilo, the President of MDCAN, said they had observed “with dismay the failure of many Nigerians to adhere to the non-pharmaceutical methods of COVID-19 prevention as espoused by relevant bodies, including the NCDC and the presidential task force.

The National President of the Association, Professor Ken Ozoilo, who stated this on Wednesday while reading the communique issued by MDCAN at the end of its virtual Executive Council meeting noted with alarm the very high rate of emigration of Nigeria’s highly trained medical and health manpower to greener pastures.
