CHANDIGARH: Jolted by the intense second wave of Covid-19 infections, Punjab’s effective reproduction rate (R-value) an indicator of how fast infection spreads has dropped below the national average and is lowest in the region.
If the trend continues for the next few weeks, experts have not ruled out the possibility of epidemic locally burning itself out. The current trend in Punjab has been attributed to the growth rate slowing down in the past few weeks. On the other hand, the growth rate has recorded a significant jump at national level and in the neighbouring states.
