President Samia cancels ceremonies, redirects funds to development projects
VICE President Dr Philip Mpango yesterday urged Tanzanians to cherish and harness achievements recorded in the 57 years of the union between Tanganyika and Zanzibar, as the union is crucial to maintain the country’s peace and harmony.

Officiating at a symposium to mark the 57th anniversary of the union here yesterday, the VP affirmed that the country has made a lot of development strides during the period, enhancing security, proper use of resources and entrenching ties between peoples of the two sides.

Tanzania’s delegation for the tripartite meeting with Uganda and oil company Total arrived in Kampala on Friday ahead of Sunday’s signing of the crude oil pipeline deal.
In a tweet that confirmed the meeting Uganda’s president Yoweri Museveni said he had received special envoys sent by Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu.
Nchemba has been serving as the minister for legal and constitutional affairs.
Liberata Mulamula was named as the new Foreign Affairs Minister while Ummy Mwalimu is now a Minister in the Presidentâs office.
AMb. Mulamula replaced Prof Palamagamba Kabudi who has been moved to the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs.
She becomes the second woman to serve in that position after Dr Asha-Rose Migiro who served between January 2006-2007.
Chief Secretary Bashiru Ally was also dropped just one month after he was appointed. He has been replaced by Tanzaniaâs ambassador to Japan Hussein Yahya Kattanga.
On Wednesday, the Tanzanian President warned her ministers against not assigning deputy ministers any tasks.
