The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Adamawa State has begun the distribution of sensitive materials ahead of Saturday Governorship and State Assembly supplementary elections in 20 affected local government areas. This was made known by the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) while speaking to journalists during the distribution on Friday in Yola, the state capital. The INEC official said that the elections would be conducted in 69 polling units with 36,935 registered voters.
The Adamawa State governorship election has been declared inconclusive, even as Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri leads with 421,524. Declaring the polls inclusive, the returning officer, Prof Mohammed Melee said the election was inconclusive because the cancelled votes exceeded the margin of victory. As according to him elections were cancelled in 47 Registration Areas with a total of 41,796 registered voters, while 31,249 Permanent Voter Cards were collected.
