HILLSDALE - A year ago, the virus that causes COVID-19 accelerated cancellations, with events and concerts postponed and schools and restaurants closed.
In January 2020, it was simply called the novel coronavirus. Soon doctors identified it as SARS CoV-2. And as people became gravely ill and deaths were reported, it was named the killer disease COVID-19.
When the COVID-19 pandemic struck, followed by a shuttered economy, a recession and a new work-from-home reality, concern, like the virus, spread.
Locally, cancellations started flooding Daily News email boxes with everything from events of fundraisers to concerts and theater productions. But amid cancellations from local community theatre to high school productions due to the coronavirus epidemic, some found a way for the show to go on.
