2. Ethanol Production Falls to Lowest in More Than Three Months Ethanol output last week fell to the lowest level in more than three months while inventories of the biofuel also declined, according to the Energy Information Administration. Production fell to an average of 933,000 barrels a day in the week that ended on January 22, the EIA said in a report. That’s down from 945,000 barrels a day, on average, the previous week and the lowest level since the seven days that ended on October 16, the agency said. In the Midwest, by far the biggest producing region, production dropped to an average of 889,000 barrels a day, down from 902,000 barrels a week earlier and the lowest output since the week that ended on January 1.
The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted two features of the Nepal-India economic relationship: Nepal’s ballooning trade deficit, and unrestricted cross-border movement of people of both countries. Attributing the trade deficit entirely to supply-side constraints is neither accurate nor conducive to the overall health of the relationship. This brief suggests ways towards more sustainable trade relations between India and Nepal, among them, India relaxing the non-tariff measures it imposes on Nepali goods, Nepal improving its quality testing infrastructure, and a revision to the bilateral trade treaty. The brief points to the economic and security hazards of a porous border and argues that regulating it will be in both countries’ long-term interest. It highlights the need for a resolution to the territorial disputes between the two, and strict non-interference by both in each other’s internal affairs.
spending up a little bit. gdp in the first half of the year was a little positive. but a recession is not a statistic. it is a process. when sales fall, which they have been easing quite dramatically, then production falls. when production falls, employment is weak which you have seen. incomes weak and then sales fall. we get in to a cycle. that cycle is what we see in our forward-looking indicators. that is starting so that when going forward, you re going to see production fall, you are going to see sales fall, incomes fall, jobs fall. that s a recession. increase in unemployment. absolutely. i would not be at all surprised, by definition unemployment rises. rising from here. deficits. there s arguments of how to deal with it. a recession drops your revenues and increases our expenditures so whatever it is now, a trillion bucks, it is going to get bigger. it is depressing speaking with you. better to know about it. yeah.
