well, i think you saw it. i think there is significant frustration from the white house. earlier this morning talking to a senior aide, said this is not one of the most difficult problems washington faces right now. we should be able to get a budget. only six months left to the end of the year. the white house and the democrats feel like they have met republicans halfway. obviously, hr-1, the republican s bill that passed the house early on had $60 billion in cuts. the democrats say they have come up with $33 billion in cuts and so, therefore, they have more than met republicans halfway. the republicans see it differently. number one, they don t think that the composition of the cuts is sufficient. they think it s smoke and mirrors. you heard speaker boehner say that. it s what kind of things the democrats are proposing in terms of cuts that the republicans say it s unacceptable. but now speaker boehner is also saying that $33 billion in cuts isn t enough, and here there s a dispute.
