Armstrong Council Considers Mayor Resignation Talks Replacement Options

Armstrong, IA (KICD) Monday evening, the Armstrong City Council gathered to approve the resignation of Mayor Greg Buum, who was recently charged in an investigation that is said to have began several years ago following a routine audit. Mayor Pro-Tem Ronald Trenary says Buum said in his resignation that he wanted the city to move forward.
Trenary says they are looking at two options for replacing Buum at the moment, either by appointment or a special election.
Trenary says if the city goes with an appointment, it will be cheaper in the long run as it costs a lot of money to do a special election. Trenary says they currently have councilman Nick Mart filling in for the city clerk position left by Tracie Lang. They plan on taking action for that position at their next meeting.
