PHILIPSBURG: - While the Parliament of St. Maarten passed a historic motion to finalize St. Maarten s decolonization process by an overwhelming majority in November of 2020, it is worth bearing in mind that varying governmental, as well as, non-governmental bodies in Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao, and St. Eustatius have also expressed their desires to finalize their decolonization.
ARUBA:
In July of 2020, the Parliament of Aruba sent a letter to the United Nations Fourth Committee regarding the proposed Caribbean Reform Entity which Aruba s Parliament claimed: would tamper with the autonomous status of a free people. Aruba s Parliament declared that the Dutch Administrative Entity (Caribbean Reform Entity) would have more power than a legitimately elected government and Parliament of a free people and that it had many characteristics of recolonization. The Parliament of Aruba beseeched the UN Fourth Committee to give this situatio

~ Says Pro Soualiga employed in Parliament ~
PHILIPSBURG: - Independent Member of Parliament Christopher Emmanuel criticized PM Silveria Jacobs on Monday for deflecting from the fact that she has a political deficit within her coalition and trying to place blame on other members of Parliament.
Emmanuel was reacting to the PM’s statement that a letter has been sent to Holland distancing her government from the Pro Soualiga Foundation and its decolonization efforts. In that same statement in the media on Monday, the Prime Minister specifically only mentioned a “Hitler” statement that she had to distanced herself from made by an independent member of Parliament. Emmanuel pointed out that the PM quite cunningly did not mention the Pro Soualiga Foundation on Monday for the local news report.

~ Govt. should meet urgently, float bond ~
PHILIPSBURG: - Independent Member of Parliament Christope Emmanuel on Friday night said that he has no qualms with the COHO deal not seeing the light of day, but pointed out that the government of St. Maarten continues to allow itself and St. Maarten to be insulted and treated like children. St. Maarten, he said, should move now to go back to the table to find alternatives including floating another bond (see below).
MP Emmanuel said the Dutch gave us a preview of how the COHO will operate in this country. Imagine the Dutch government wanting St. Maarten s Prime Minister to apologise and distance herself from opinions of duly elected Members of Parliament and independent foundations in her country. So when the COHO is set up, if they don t get what they want, they will act the same way. I warned that this is what s coming to our country, this is what the PM and her government are bringing on this

~Does Freedom of Expression still exist in the Kingdom, or do the people have to be on their knees in order for the Kingdom to take its responsibility seriously? ~
PHILIPSBURG: - The Government of St. Maarten confirmed in a press release late Friday evening that the Dutch Government has placed more conditions as expected on Friday morning when they met in the Kingdom Council of Ministers to discuss St. Maarten’s position prior to them releasing the 3rd tranche in liquidity support.
Basically, the Minister of Plenipotentiary Rene Violenius read a statement sent to him by the Council of Ministers and instead of the RMR accepting how the government of St. Maarten feels after months of negotiations, they are now demanding that the Jacobs cabinet submits in writing a clear declaration distancing itself from the Pro Soualiga Foundation and its intention to go before the United Nations to continue the decolonization process and to also distance
