The aerial survey of the rajakaluve in the twin cities of Hubballi-Dharwad remains on paper, even after facing flood-like situations. Encroachments on nalas, silt, garbage waste, construction work debris and others, along with the open drains, have led to waterlogging, which results in a flood-like situation. Civic authorities don't have any specific documents or records about the rajakaluve and sub nalas in twin cities. Dr Pandurang Patil, former mayor of HDMC, highlights encroachment and uncleaned nalas as the main reasons for flood-like situations during heavy rain. Mahesh Tenginakai, MLA, stresses the need for a comprehensive survey of nalas to address the issues effectively.
