Lakhimpur district logs two more COVID deaths, 84 fresh cases detected
Two more persons died due to COVID-19 in the Lakhimpur district on Wednesday.

LAKHIMPUR: Two more persons died due to COVID-19 in the Lakhimpur district on Wednesday. They have been identified as Arun Purti (27), resident of Harmoti Merbil under Bihpuriya Block Primary Health Centers (BPHC) area and Rupeswar Dutta (87), resident of Gharmora Na-Pamuwa under Boginadi BPHC area. He breathed his last in Catholic Hospital, Borgang under Biswanath district while the latter died in Lakhimpur Medical College and Hospital (LMCH).
On the other hand, a total of 84 fresh COVID-19 cases were detected in the district on Wednesday. Out of them, 82 cases were found to be positive for COVID-19 as per Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) while the other two cases were detected as per the RTPCR (Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction) Test. LAKHIMPUR: Community contagion of COVID-19 continues to be alarming in Lakhimpur district.
A total of 116 fresh cases were detected in the district on Tuesday. Out of them, 103 cases were found to be positive for COVID-19 as per Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) while rest 13 cases were detected as per Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RTPCR) Test. On this day, the District Health Department conducted 7,615 RATs in the nine COVID-19 test centres of the district, including the Block Primary Health Centers (BPHCs) and private nursing homes, and registered 111.01 per cent achievement in conducting the RAT in order to detect COVID-19 patients out of the targeted figure 6,860. HSE staff members and defence forces personnel have been deployed to assist with staff shortages at Cahercalla nursing home.
A number of staff there are on Covid leave after an outbreak of the virus at the facility.

A Covid-19 outbreak in Cahercalla in the last number of days has resulted in 19 cases of the virus on site.
A number of staff at the nursing home are self-isolating, while the HSE has offered its assistance to fill staffing shortfalls.
In a statement, the nursing home says it is working closely with the HSE’s dedicated Covid response team, HIQA and others to maintain the safety and welfare of all residents and staff.
