Hospital staff and private ambulance owners in Salem are allegedly running a racket to shift patients from the government hospital to private hospitals. The resident medical officer (RMO) of the Salem government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College and Hospital (SGMKMCH) has filed a police complaint against the ambulance owners. They are accused of interfering in the booking process and taking commissions from private hospitals. A departmental inquiry has been initiated against the nurses and ward boys involved in the racket.
