Boise State University student Halima Hamud has been awarded the prestigious Harry S. Truman Scholarship for her tremendous academic success and leadership accomplishments. She is one of 62 scholars selected this year out of a record number of 845 candidates who were nominated by 328 colleges and universities.
Hamud will graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science degree in May 2022 and is Boise State’s fifth Truman scholar. The scholarship will fund her graduate studies in international relations with a focus in East African studies.

Becca Sibrian, a lecturer of German in the Department of World Languages, presented “Testing in the age of COVID” during the Pacific Northwest Council for Language – Stronger Together conference, held virtually this year March 5-6.
During this presentation, she discussed the transition to remote learning in her German courses in the spring of 2020 and how she transitioned to Project Based Assessments to better serve her students and to better highlight what her students could “do” in the language. The second half of this presentation was a workshop to help other language educators brainstorm about this for their classrooms.

Boise State continues to provide highly competitive programs for online students located in Idaho and all over the world. In the U.S. News and World Report’s latest national rankings – which evaluate more than 1,200 online programs – multiple Boise State programs earned high rankings in the “Best Online Programs” category. Additionally, Boise State is the only public or private institution in Idaho to be ranked.
