Mike Tod has already been tipped as a strong contender to become the bank s new head of corporate affairs.
The former Air NZ executive has just lost his new boss, Priscilla Brown, who is finishing up at the end of May and heading back to the US.
That s led to speculation Tod could take over her role as group executive of marketing and corporate affairs, although the Sydney Morning Herald noted he is expected to face competition from long-standing CBA executive and current chief marketing officer Monique Macleod.

The Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) is on the hunt for a new group executive, marketing and corporate affairs. According to an internal note to staff, an internal and external search will now take place to find a permanent replacement for Priscilla Brown.
It is understood Brown, who joined the bank in August 2019, is returning to the US to be closer to her family and will finish up at the bank on 31 May.

Brown joined the bank in 2019 in a newly created executive leadership role to bring together marketing and corporate affairs functions.

She was prior to that CEO of Emerge.me, a US start-up digital healthcare platform she joined in 2017. Brown has also held executive leadership roles at Ameri Health Caritas, Sun Life Financial US, and Lincoln National Corporation, with responsibility for leading business units, stakeholder engagement, marketing, corporate affairs, investor relations and business development functions

Staff inside the bank were notified last week that the US-educated Brown â who holds the rather impressive title of CBAâs group executive of marketing and corporate affairs â would be wrapping up around the end of May. Bank sources said Brown would be returning to the US and the decision had been partly prompted by COVID travel bans which had prevented her from seeing her adult children in the US for months and her mother in Africa since the start of the pandemic.
