Ashley Wilkerson, senior co-pastor of Pacific Coast Church in Tacoma, Washington, which she leads with her husband JonFulton Wilkerson, has drawn criticism for suggesting that Bible translators altered Scripture to diminish evidence that women served as apostles, deacons and even pastors in the early church.
If we all take a good look at what is happening within our churches, we’ll most likely hear, read about, and see groups of women focused on numerous tasks. Both women’s and men’s activities within the church are important, but why are so many women involv.
Sometimes 1 Timothy 2:9–15 is read in tandem with 1 Corinthians 14:34–35 to make the claim that if Paul commands women to be silent, churches today should not permit them to teach, speak, or lead congregations.
