DATES have been set for people to get their Covid-19 vaccinations at a new location in York. As The Press reported last month, The Priory Pharmacy in Acomb is to become a community vaccination centre and now two dates have been released when people will be getting their jabs. Pharmacy manager, Faisal Hussain, said Sunday, May 30 and Saturday, June 5 have now been set aside for jabs to take place. The team at the pharmacy have been working hard setting up a new Covid vaccine hub in the building to support the local community in accessing the NHS vaccination programme. The new clinics will take place at the Cornlands Road site and will supplement some of the larger vaccination hubs.

The team at the pharmacy are working towards setting up a new Covid vaccine hub in the building to support the local community in accessing the NHS vaccination programme. Mr Cohen, who also runs two pharmacies in Leeds, said: We all want to play our part in beating the virus. The Priory pharmacy team now have an important role to play to ensure that everyone in the local and wider communities can access the vaccine - and at a time convenient to them.

A separate lateral flow rapid testing site, also part of the pilot, is also planned for fire service crews but this will not be open to the public. Health chiefs say the super fast tests will play a huge part in breaking the chain of infection so it’s important that people use them. Olutayo Arikawe, pharmacist at Priory Pharmacy, said: The tests are quick and simple to do and people get their results really quickly. Taking one of these tests when you are symptom free is a big step in terms of breaking the chain of the virus and reducing transmission.
