Its seven in the morning in singapore, and seven in the evening in new york, where the case for the prosecution is coming to a close at Donald Trumps Hush Money Trial in new york. His formerfixer, Michael Cohen, was once again on the stand today in manhattan facing cross examination. The former president s lawyers pushed him on the accuracy of his recollection of phone calls with mr trump after hed earlier testified that it was over the phone that he got the go ahead to make a payment to Stormy Daniels. Mr trumps lawyers also asked whether mr cohen made regular secret recordings of phone conversations, which they said would have been unethical. Mr cohen responded that if he had recorded a crime happening, it would have been an exception to the rule of ethics. Mr trump may have been sitting in the courtroom with only his legal team but a group of republican politicians turned out to support him. They echoed his claims that the prosecution was politically motivated and without any justif
not really, but there is some alignment, the chinese don t want the north koreans rocking the boat with all these missile tests in the same way that the chinese would rather the russians find a way to stop the war in ukraine. that s very interesting, right? the fact that unlike russia, where there is a strong effort to undermine the international status quo, the chinese really want to see more stability right now, especially given how poorly their economy is performing, given the difficulties of upholding the zero covid issue. there are plenty of problems that the americans have on national security that the chinese are the principal adversary. but the timing of this meeting is one where both presidents do want to actually use common interests to calm some of the big global challenges that exist

is at 7%, 8%, to stop it and bring it back before it gets in the double digits is really important. there s going to be some pain in the short run, but the thing that would be frightening and would remind me of the 70s is this kind of continuing, seemingly unstoppable wage push inflation. that s one difference. the second thing is that back in the 70s, the united states, for part of that time, was stuck in a quagmire overseas in the vietnam war. it is now our principal adversary, russia, in the quagmire, and the united states in a very different position. so i just would offer that caution. watching my friend, steve rattner, dr. doom, talking about all these necessary indexes was chilling, but i think there are some differences that mean that the recovery from this process ought to be a little bit easier than back in the leisure suit
