Prince Simakade Zulu, the firstborn son of the late King Goodwill Zwelithini, has had his name thrown into the hat in the bitter dispute over the contestation of the Zulu throne.
Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi has cunningly appropriated a solemn occasion facing the Zulu kingdom to reassert his preferred version of history. Clearly seeking sympathy to portray a legacy of a peacemaker on the right side of history, he uses Mzala Nxumalo as a “propagandist” who sought to denigrate his good name.
The media has provided him with unfettered and unsuspecting access. Among many interviews, he told
SABC’s Simphiwe Makhanya that his Zulu royal detractors were basing their allegations on Mzala’s book,
SAFM show.
He was also quoted in an article on
IOL by Sihle Mavuso saying, “I know that people like Princess Thembi and others… were trained by the ANC’s external mission using the writings of one of their stalwarts called Nobleman Nxumalo who also called himself Mzala who wrote the book titled
ROYAL REBELS SPEAK OUT! Princess Thembi was angry about how Prince Mangosuthu handled the chaotic situation. .
KING Goodwill Zwelithini’s siblings, Princess Thembi Ndlovu and Prince Mbonisi Zulu, have promised to support new King Misuzulu.
However, they’re still angry that Prince Thokozani Zulu was not given a chance to speak after Queen Mantfombi Dlamini Zulu’s will was read on Friday, 7 May.
Princess Thembi said there was nothing wrong with Prince Thokozani standing up to ask questions after the will named Prince Misuzulu as the new king.
She told
Daily Sun that Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi was supposed to have given him a chance to avoid unnecessary conflict.

ZULU monarch traditional Prime minister Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi has rubbished rumors that King Zwelithini’s older son Prince Simakade Zulu wants to challenge newly appointed Zulu king Misuzulu.
Buthelezi said that the mediation to Zulu royal house internal squabbles is unnecessary, and they will have the special meeting with Prince Thokozani who stood up after king Misuzulu was named this coming Friday to sort out their issues.
He was speaking during a media briefing held at Durban Manor Hotel in Durban on Tuesday, 11 May.
Zulu Prince Simakade Zulu said he had no aspirations of sitting on the royal throne.
This after rumours that he was gunning for the top position.
King Misuzulu kaZwelithini reportedly felt mediation was not necessary to quell any discord in the royal house.
Zulu Prince Simakade Zulu has quashed rumours he is challenging King Misuzulu kaZwelithini s claim to the throne. I wish to assure everyone that I have never expressed such ambitions to anyone. I have heard that there are talks that there are people who wish me to ascend to this position. There is nothing I can do about that, he said on Tuesday.
