This week’s latest development from the Zulu royal court took many by surprise when it emerged that a third faction is contesting for the throne despite the fact that King Misuzulu is already occupying it.
The fight for the Zulu throne has taken another turn as a new royal faction is threatening to initiate a court action to compel the Zulu royal house to stop the ascension of King Misuzulu as the King of the Zulu nation.
It has been just over a month since 47-year-old King Misuzulu KaZwelithini was named in the will of his late mother, Zulu Queen Regent Mantfombi Dlamini-Zulu, to take over the Zulu monarchy
While still mourning the death of King Goodwill Zwelithini and his wife Queen Mantfombi, the Zulu royal family has suffered yet another loss.
This after King Zwelithiniâs brother Prince Thiza Zulu aged 72 years died on Friday, 21 May after a short illness.
Prince Thiza was one of the remaining senior princes from the KwaDlamahlahla Royal Palace and was close to Zwelithini as they grew up together.
He led preparation for the late Kingâs burial as well as cleansing rituals for the Chief.
Royal Family spokesperson Prince Thulani Zulu said the family was still going to meet to discuss funeral arrangements.
