I will tell you a story. When Abacha was scheming to transmute to a civilian president and opposition to his schemes mounted from the South West, the system descended on Yorubas in the Federal Service. They were being systematically removed. I was the MILAD (Military Administrator) of Lagos and, one day, I met the late Ooni Okunade Sijuwade and discussions veered off to this matter. I told him that it was the crack in Yoruba’s wall caused principally by the quarrel between him and the Alaafin that was responsible for the lack of respect and fear for the Yoruba. I told him that if they spoke with one voice, the whole country would be afraid to touch any of their children who were then suffering persecution. The Ooni asked me what I thought he should do. I told him he and Alaafin should resolve their differences. The Ooni said he was ready. I phoned the Alaafin but I could not reach him. So, I sent my protocol officer, Ayilara, from Lagos to Oyo to deliver the message to Alaaf

The Bishop of Lagos Diocese (Anglican Communion), Right Reverend Humphrey Olumakaiye, has told the former Governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, not to stop fighting for the oppressed as they are being exploited.
Olumakaiye said the exploitation is frustrating the efficacy of fasting, thus affecting the effectiveness of the country’s growth and development.
He made this plea while addressing the congregation at the Holy Communion and Thanksgiving Service marking the 70th birthday of Prince Oyinlola at the Cathedral Church of Christ, Marina, Lagos State.
The Bishop added that the celebrant should use his influence to continue to live an impactful life, working for God, setting minds on spiritual things and applying biblical wisdom.

Lagos State governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has congratulated former military administrator of the state, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, on his 70 years birthday celebration, describing Oyinlola as an elder statesman worth celebrating for his life of consistent commitment to public service in different capacities as a military officer, administrator and politician.
Prince Oyinlola, a retired military officer and former democratically elected governor of Osun State clocks 70 on Wednesday, February 3.
Governor Sanwo-Olu said this, on Tuesday, in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Mr Gboyega Akosile, noting that Oyinlola remained one of the few Nigerian leaders who had contributed immensely to the growth and development of several states and the country at large as a military officer, politician and elder statesman.

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Babatunde Ogunwusi, has described a former governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola as a motivation for all young people struggling for breakthroughs.
The Ooni who said this in his goodwill message to Prince Oyinlola on his 70th birthday coming up on Wednesday, stressed that the former governor’s “birth, upbringing and achievements in life despite losing his parents at a very young age is a lesson and, indeed, a motivation to all young people out there struggling for a breakthrough that everything is possible.”
