Prince Philip has just spent his sixth night in King Edward VII hospital he was admitted as a “precautionary measure” last week after feeling unwell, but reportedly walked into the building unaided and is in good spirits. Concern spread among royal watchers when Prince Charles made the 200-mile journey from his Gloucestershire home to visit his father in hospital, and appeared sombre when he left half an hour later. Philip, 99, has been married to the Queen for 73 years, and is seen as a fundamental part of the Royal Family’s backbone.
