Kings Of Leonraised more than $600,000 for Crew Nation with an NFT-laden album drop in March. For the last couple years, the still-burgeoning world of cryptocurrency seemed like something out of science fiction, at least to most run-of-the-mill, regular-money-using people.
Even its name, with the prefix “crypto,” suggested a dark-web underworld where people traded things of nebulous worth for nebulous currency for nebulous reasons. While some mainstream outlets and businesses started accepting Bitcoin for transactions, and even just recently some major online brokerages started tracking cryptocurrency on their own exchange-traded funds, the crypto craze has mostly seemed to be as a new asset class for people hoping to make a quick buck.

LOS ANGELES - The Breakaway Music Festival has officially announced its three scheduled fall dates, and that each one will have an NFT component, organizers announced today.
An NFT (non-fungible token) is based on the blockchain technology, and it is one of the hottest trends as musicians and other artists are jumping into cryptocurrency, such as the recent Kings of Leon album release.
Calling itself the “leading college-focused touring festival in the country,” organizers said in a release that the Breakaway Festival will offer “as part of the initial on sale for the events. limited edition ticket bundles that include an exclusive NFT for the first 500 fans who buy tickets in the presale.”

I’m burning for music just like anybody but I m a firm believer in the policy and the guidelines, said Conor Stratton, owner of Ace of Cups. This isn t the first time since the start of the coronavirus pandemic about a year ago that live music has attempted something of a comeback.
Last summer, some smaller venues attempted to begin hosting sporadic concerts after the May 14 Dine Safe Ohio Order gave the go-ahead to musicians and bands to perform in restaurants and bars that met social-distancing requirements. In September, promotion company Prime Social Group introduced the Westland Mall Drive-in concert series featuring local and national acts.
