Top Story May 5, 2021 ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry Tuesday endorsed the statement of Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Shahzad Akbar that if the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) was supposed to introduce electoral reforms, then the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) should be allowed to amend the accountability laws. In a tweet, he said if parliament had no role in reformation, the national institutions should be allowed to do whatever they like as in the opinion of Shahbaz Sharif and Bilawal Bhutto, the parliament had nothing to do with the process of reformation of national institutions.

Top Story April 30, 2021 ISLAMBAD: The Pakistan Bar Council on Thursday demanded a high-powered judicial commission to probe into the disclosures made by former director general Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Bashir Memon, alleging undue influence of senior state officials to initiate a case against Justice Qazi Faez Isa. The demand was made in a resolution unanimously passed by the PBC Executive Committee in a meeting chaired by Chairman Muhammad Faheem Wali here at the Supreme Court. The committee expressed its grave concerns over the disclosures made by Bashir Memon. The members demanded a high-powered judicial commission to inquire into the revelations and recommend stern action against the delinquents.

Top Story April 29, 2021 ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) on Wednesday demanded constitution of a judicial commission on allegations levelled by ex-director general of FIA Bashir Memon against Prime Minister Imran Khan, Special Assistant to Prime Minister Shahzad Akbar and Law Minister Farogh Nasim. The PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz, while talking to newsmen here, said the judicial commission should inquire as to how conspiracies were hatched against Justice Faez Isa from the Prime Minister House, a fake reference was field against him and attempt was made to destroy his career. The PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz said that people have come to know that what are Sicilian mafias, saying even heads of gangs have gone to such an extreme. “This is issue of people of Pakistan because of such political engineering, they are suffering due to inefficiency of Imran Khan’s government,” she said, adding the opponents were chosen for purpose of victimisation.
