Two and half years ago Liberal Citizen Foundation (Salk) was established. Already back then one of their goals was to influence the Estonian parliament elections of 2023, so that liberal forces would get majority. And they succeeded. Should the Riigikogu revoke the right to vote in local elections of third country citizens permanently residing in Estonia as proposed by an Isamaa bill, Chancellor of Justice Ülle Madise will very probably launch constitutional review proceedings in the parliament and the Supreme Court if necessary.

Under the coalition agreement waiting to be signed, the new Reform-Isamaa-SDE government coalition intends to sharply increase the size of monthly family benefits in Estonia. Bowing to pressure from Isamaa, family benefits are to be paid out to all families with three or more children through age 24, but Reform still wants to narrow the scope of the benefit.
