Thats what theyre calling this is emergency construction inbound on the gowanus just off the verrazano as you get into brooklyn. The big deal here is that right now the hov lane is completely shut down. Thats the lane at the far left there, that would normally be open at this time of the morning.

Reporter were talking about a twoyearold girl, her mom and her awrnghts minding their own business here at the bus stop waiting for their bus to come when all of a sudden in that Intersection Police say one car ran a red light and slammed into a second car, then jumped the curb and plowed into that family. Tonight highly trained investigators inspected the cars involved in this collision that sent this white suv hurdling onto the sidewalk to the very spot where a family of three, including a toddler, happened to be waiting for a bus. And then came the screams of an older Family Member who tried to shove the little girl out of the way. People here heard her screaming. She saved the babys life. Building and shook the apartments next door. I grabbed my family and we all got out. Firefighters arrived minutes later and found the body of 64yearold ligia puello in the stairwell. Her daughter is i believe in the Dominican Republic and on the way back and i feel bad. Crews are sifting through the debris to find 47yearold franchesca firaroa. She was in the process of moving out. Her car was in the vicinity and her phone pinged a power near here and its since gone dead. Investigators believe this was a gas explosion possibly caused by someone who disconnected a kitchen stove. They said theyre not ruling out criminal activity. The blast so strong that flying debris struck two men and the adults, both managers at a near by market. All are expected to make a full recovery.
