NEW CITY One teen has died and another has been jailed after a 3-car crash at 10:50 p.m. Thursday on Congers Road, Clarkstown police said.
A 16-year-old boy died of his injuries Friday afternoon, police said. A 17-year-old girl remains in serious condition.
Both were passengers in a black Mitsubishi Lancer driven by Alan Mendoza, police said.

Mendoza, 18, faces seven felony charges and one misdemeanor charge: one count of Aggravated Vehicular Homicide (felony), one count of Aggravated Vehicular Assault (felony), one count of Manslaughter in the 2nd (felony), two counts of Assault 2nd (felony), Vehicular manslaughter in the 2nd (felony), Driving While Intoxicated (felony) and Reckless Driving.

A group of nine students from Landmark School in Beverly is among 13 teams nationwide awarded this year’s Lemelson-MIT InvenTeams grant to invent solutions to solve real-world problems.
This is the third time that Landmark’s team has received this grant.
The Landmark initiative is a near-shore marine data survey collector in the form of a fixed buoy placed off the coast adjacent to the Landmark High School campus in Prides Crossing. The device will collect air temperature, barometric pressure, water salinity, windspeed, water temperature and acidity and turbidity at the water surface, 10 feet down and on the ocean floor.
