south africa, we probably would want to go see some of of the animals. we had seen giraffes, elephants, zebras, water buffaloes, high e yee nas, hippos, and we saw a lot. a lot of birds and a lot of wildlife. we had seen the little dung beetle rolling the dung [ laughter ] but the safari is not going to be feeling complete without spying the big cats of the big five. everybody wants to see the big five. which are the dangerous animals. lions are fairly easy to see, but we had not seen one, so our parents took us to the lion park. hoping to check another animal off of the must-see list, they drive through the park. they are given clear instructions to lock the car door. they enter the grounds, and within minutes they spot a pride of lions. we were driving around and when we approached part of the road, the lions were lay manage
protector, an unlike one. david mckenzie joins me with more on that. what about these concerns about the cubs? what do we know? well, with anderson, what we do know, usually in these cases, when a dominant male lion leaves the pride or is killed, another lion will come in and kill those cubs. cecil had 12 young cubs and more offspring than that. there were a lot of worries that another lion would come in and kill them. yet another bad news story out of this story, which has lale touched a nerve globally, this killing of cecil the lion. but oxford university professors telling us that, in fact, jericho, cecil s brother, is protecting those lion cubs for the moment. so, yes, a bit of good news tonight. is that common? that a brother, a lion brother would do this? well, it is common, because, you know, this is a large pride of lions and it s all about

that s so cute. jason is ready to call it a day. usually on safari, you don t really see much, and we didn t expect any action. then a quiet watering hole appears out of nowhere. our guide said, let s stop at this watering hole, because he heard that there were some lions there. it wasn t until our last hour on our safari, our final last day, our last hour, the sun was setting, and at that watering hole is where we saw the pride of lions on one edge and the buffaloes on the other. soaking up the last rays of the hot day, the tourists grow weary. and we waited a full hour before the buffalo started to make its way around the watering hole. there were a group of lions to one side, and across on the other side were cape buffalo. i thought to myself, oh, my gosh, i better have the camera on. this could be very interesting. three of the buffalo started to walk towards the lions. the tourists tense up as they see the inevitable confrontation forming on the far side of the
