Seventeen children at Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School in Tuscaloosa received an early Christmas present Wednesday.
The group of children from pre-kindergarten through second grade were ushered out the front doors of the school with their eyes covered. When they opened them, they saw a row of shiny new bicycles waiting for them.
Tuscaloosa Police Officer Kyle Nation, a 27-year-old who has served with TPD for five years, was the driving force behind the gift. He said that he is also a real estate investor on the side and decided the bicycle giveaway would be a great way to reinvest some of his profits into the community.
