One of the most beautiful sites in Brazil appears to be Ilha da Queimada Grande, located about 90 miles off the coast of So Paulo. The island is well-known to most Brazilians, but just a few people consider visiting because it is home to up to 4,000 golden lancehead vipers, one of the world's deadliest snakes.
Researchers discovered that an invasive species of snake has killed virtually all of Gran Canaria's indigenous reptiles. California kingsnakes were introduced to Gran Canaria in 1998, some later escaped while others were purposely released by pet owners. Since then, the snakes have mated, bred, and spread over the island.
