AUGUSTA Some Maine jails have administered the COVID-19 vaccine to more than 70 percent of incarcerated populations while at least one has yet to vaccinate inmates at all as correctional facilities continue to see some of the state’s largest outbreaks.
Nursing homes and most other congregate facilities were included as part of the first phase of Maine’s COVID-19 vaccine rollout last December.

COVID-19 outbreak reported at Glenridge long-term care center in Augusta
MaineGeneral Health spokesperson Joy McKenna said eight residents and five staff members have tested positive for COVID-19 since Jan. 15.

AUGUSTA Thirteen cases of COVID-19 have been reported at MaineGeneral Rehabilitation & Long Term Care at Glenridge, which prompted an outbreak investigation at the site.
Director of the Maine Center for Disease Control & Prevention Nirav Shah announced the outbreak investigation at Thursday’s news briefing. During the hearing, Shah reported 10 cases related to the investigation.
CDC spokesperson Robert Long said state officials are assisting with case investigations and contact tracing, along with ensuring adequate supplies of personal protective equipment and testing for staff and residents.
