He was read the charges against him and then released on bond. He burfoot was in front of a judge. He was read the charges against him and then released on bond. He had turned himself in the us marshals earlier in the day. Here is some video of burfoot coming out court. He is facing charges of that he was involved in a scheme to defraud the citizens of norfolk of their right to honest services. The charges stem from when burfoot was vice mayor on city council and spilled over to the treasurers office. One indictment alleges that over a period of years, burfoot solicited things of value including money, car payments, and Home Appliances for votes cast. The indictment provides detailed allegations of burfoots illicit relationships with the managers of tivest development. My colleague andy fox has that more on that coming up. Burfoot is also facing perjury charges claiming under oath he never accepted or allocated things of value in exchange for performing i did ask burfoot is he in plans
