Debra McClendon-Boddie, founder and president of PGR Foundation Inc., prepares a girl to go down a runway holding a picture of an inspiring ancestor or role model. The annual “Ancestral Storytelling Fashion Show” helps girls learn to leave a legacy like the woman in the picture they chose.

Debra McClendon-Boddie went to a “You Can’t Fail” conference organized by Gwen Webber-McLeod and remembers one of the speakers challenging the audience this way:
