Kids Fight Back Against COVID-19 With Comics
Children at Pressman Academy in Los Angeles are setting the standard for what it means to give back to the world in a time of great loss while also tapping into their innate creativity. When classes went remote in March 2020, first-grade children in Pressman’s Comic Book Creators’ Club decided to channel all the pent up energy of many days of sitting in front of a screen into creating a comedic story that has recently been released electronically. “Bat-Chef & R.P. Chichi: Corona Fighters!” is a digital comic that is both heartwarming and humorous.
Fighting a Virus: Local Community Mobilizes Over Coronavirus
On March 8, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health issued a statement saying that a Los Angeles resident who attended the America Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) Policy Conference in Washington, D.C., from March 1-3, tested positive for the novel coronavirus COVID-19. Last week, two other attendees from New York were diagnosed with the virus.
However, unlike the New York attendees who were reported to have had the virus before attending the conference, according to an email sent to parents at Gindi Maimonides Academy in West Los Angeles, Los Angeles County officials told the school the L.A. attendee contracted the virus at AIPAC.
Pressman Academy to launch an ECG workgroup India-based Pressman Academy for Print Education and Research (PAPER) will launch an online workgroup to undertake projects on Expanded Colour Gamut (ECG), in an attempt to encourage more printers to try this process.
This group will include all technical partners which has equipment manufacturers, software developers, measuring device manufacturers, printers, consumable manufacturers etc. This idea was a result of our first ECG evaluation work in association with Nilpeter India, PVG s College of Engineering and Technology, Pune etc., at Nilpeter’s facility in Chennai. In fact this project was taken up by final year students under the guidance of Dr. Akshay V Joshi, printing engineering department, PVG COET ,” said K Panthala Selvan of PAPER.
