i don t think anyone on the committee or our chairs in the house or senate ought to be staving a conclusion or deeming it their responsibility to push back on unfavorable press stories. if we re going to be doing that, commenting on the evidence in the investigation every step of the way every time we see a press story that we want to clarify, we are not going to have an investigation. what do you think of the fact that the deputy fbi director, mccabe, reportedly was the first to raise this issue to try to reassure sean spicer that the new york times story was not accurate in all of its details? should he have made that approach? absolutely not. if the fbi or the director of the cia was making press calls, speaking on condition of anonymity or any other way should they have been talking to the press secretary? should the fbi have been in communication with the white house? absolutely not. not on a pending investigation that potentially involves people within the administrat
that isis has? because we know al qaeda used to have that. they ve been trying for a long time. now it looks like isis is getting in that game. they always have been in that game. if you look again even in the open press stories, isis has been continuing to try to infiltrate, to have attacks in the united states. there s never been a security briefing that said that isis was not a threat to the united states or allies. having been identified as such, it goes back to chapter 12 of the 9/11 report that says we need to make certain we take this fight to islamic extremism. they said we have to remain diligent or this will spread and continue to be a threat to the united states, as we see today with our allies. a lot of experts say the only way to destroy isis is to send a lot of troops into iraq and syria and kill them. are you ready to see u.s. boots on the ground as they say, in significant numbers, thousands of american troops going back to fight this war?
said that s true we ve never been closer to a deal but at the same time i think after you saw all these positive press stories over the last couple of day, what secretary kerry was trying to lower expectations. listen, yes, a deal s close, but it s not guaranteed. it s true the parties still far apart over the weekend on sanctions. but there are still key areas, access to inspectors for iran s military and nuclear sites as well as the case of development of nuclear technology that iran can do throughout the deal. they are still far apart on this deal. so yes, secretary kerry is saying, you know things are looking positive but if you look at how much still has to be done he said it s not guaranteed that a deal will be
