Elderly People Account for Largest Share of ‘NEES’ Tribe

SUWON, Dec. 25 (Korea Bizwire) Elderly people over the age of 65 turned out to account for the largest share of the new class of people nicknamed NEES.
The NEES tribe refers to people who do not participate in economic activities, nor in education and social activities.
According to a report released on Thursday by the Gyeonggi Research Institute, a think tank run by the government of Gyeonggi Province, 50.6 percent of elderly men and 67.8 percent of elderly women can be classified as NEES people, the highest among all age groups.

SEOUL, Dec. 25 (Korea Bizwire) SK Innovation Co., South Korea’s top oil refiner, plans to live broadcast its 2021 New Year’s sunrise event through YouTube in accordance with the government’s special anti-COVID-19 measures.
The company said it will use YouTube to live broadcast the New Year’s sunrise viewed from its Ulsan Complex for about one hour starting from 7 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2021.
The event will be held in the format of dual live broadcasts showing not only Ulsan’s sunrise but also interviews with ordinary people.
