Canucks Announce Coaching Staff Updates

Vancouver, B.C. - Vancouver Canucks General Manager Jim Benning confirmed updates to the Canucks coaching staff today. Joining the team are Brad Shaw as Assistant Coach and Kyle Gustafson as Assistant/Special Assignment Coach. Assistant Coaches Nolan Baumgartner, Jason King, Goaltending Coach Ian Clark and Video Coach Darryl Seward, were all signed to contract extensions.
Additionally, Benning confirmed that Chris Higgins will resume his role as Assistant Director, Player Development, after supporting the coaching staff as Skill & Development Coach during the 2021 season and that the Canu
Tortorella out after 6 years as Columbus Blue Jackets coach

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) John Tortorella is out as coach of the Columbus Blue Jackets after six seasons.
General manager Jarmo Kekalainen said in a statement Sunday that parting ways with the winningest coach in franchise history was a mutual decision.
The 62-year-old Tortorella was in the last year of his contract, and the separation wasn’t a surprise after a tumultuous season that saw the Blue Jackets plunge to last place in their division amid the coach’s admitted failure to influence the team culture.
“Torts and I have had numerous conversations throughout the season, and we have agreed that the time is right for both he and the club to go our separate ways,” Kekalainen said a day after the Blue Jackets concluded the season with a 5-4 overtime win against Detroit. “He is a great coach and his accomplishments with our club over the past six seasons speak for themselves.”

As of Wednesday, the Edmonton Oilers have 10 games remaining, and it’s a softer 10. They’ve got the Canucks five times, the Flames twice, the Canadiens twice, and the Jets tonight. I think you could fairly expect them to win six or seven of those. If you give them seven, and 14 points, they’d end the season with 72 points.
The Leafs have eight games left, which includes two versus the Canucks, one against the Sens, one against the Jets, and four against the Canadiens. They’re at 65 points, meaning just four wins from those eight would net them eight points and 73 on the season.
