Warren Council reverses decision; pays general fund bills

After voting unanimously to table the payment of all general fund bills at its Dec. 8 meeting, Warren City Council reversed its decision Tuesday night and voted to remove the bills from the table and pay all of them in full. The decision was unanimous. The decision to delay bill payment was in response to the administration’s refusal to pay invoices from Plunkett Cooney law firm, the city council’s special legal counsel. The city council approved payment of those bills last month, but as of Dec. 8 they had not been paid. - Advertisement - “Last week, we tabled the bills in effort to act as an impetus for the administration to pay legal bills and other outstanding bills,” Council Secretary Mindy Moore said. “We want to make sure all legal bills are paid and that we know what we are dealing with. All Plunkett Cooney bills will be paid, I am told, and I’m satisfied.”
