President Borut Pahor and Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon have confirmed for the news website N1 that Pahor could help promote Slovenia's bid for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council after leaving office later this month. "If the government takes such a decision, President Pahor will accept the proposal," Fajon told N1.
The 27th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change is taking place in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, from 6 to 18 November. The aim of the conference is to re-energise the global ambition to scale up climate change mitigation and adaptation efforts and to mobilise adequate financing for climate action.
On the day of the official opening of the 77th UNGA, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a briefing for representatives of embassies based in Ljubljana. State Secretary Samuel Žbogar presented Slovenia’s priorities for the UNGA and plans related to participation in the General Debate, which will take place in New York from 20 to 26 September 2022.
