part of politics is the practical. obviously the president is not going to veto his own health care law. the democratic controlled senate that s his entire then let him own it. he already does own it. that s what he was elected on. the supreme court validated it. i truly believe he would blink on this. i really do. i think it would be unadvisable to force this down the american people s throat. i want to talk about something i find fascinating with you is you very much position yourself as this sort of tea party candidate, this anti-government guy. you know, you re very much opposed to bailouts. you had a bell company in east hampton, connecticut, that was struck by lightning and burned to the ground and you sought money from the state of connecticut. correct you on three things. i m not positioning myself as a tea party guy. i m running as a republican. you do not have the endorsement from the tea party i have any number of endorsements. the madison project?
except obama care. the cr should be passed. minus the funding of this. that should be taken through to the senate. from the house to the senate. but the idea is you would hold support of continuing resolution if the president s health care law was funded. which would not have the votes provided for the government to run, correct? it is a call to pass the cr minus the funding. and then put that in the president s court. let the president make the decision as to whether or not he s going to take a piece of legislation. how could that be democratic control of the senate though? let the democrats take control of that. i call that bluff. i don t think it s wise to shut down the government. i m not advocating that. i don t want to speak for him. we re talking about funding everything except for obama care. obama care is unbelievably unpopular. it s not wanted by the american people. it s not wanted by unions. it s not wanted by employers. it s not wanted by the individuals.
get it to pass but not so narrow that it doesn t do anything and in the end the people who were against it say, see, it didn t accomplish anything. yes. there are two legacies of the iraq war debate. the first is whether or not we can trust evidence that s been presented. the slippery slope. are we headed for a war? that s right. the president has tried to make that case repeatedly. it s tough to say that people know where this stops, particularly john mccain advocated for and got introduced an aspect to that that made it wider than what the administration wanted. we ve seen it in the polls and in the town halls and members of congress representing this, e.j., the american people don t support this. i want to play a clip from tony lincoln who was on morning joe this morning. this is a limited, targeted, but effective use of force to
on kosovo and bosnia. including the anti-warish republicans who are opposing obama now fell in line behind president bush after iraq. there was also a lot of pressure after 9/11. now, i still think this is going to pass. i think it s going to pass in the house because as speaker boehner, the eliter cantor showed, if the president has his legs cut out from him on this vote, it s a huge problem for american foreign policy. i think that same argument will apply with a lot of democrats. you have people like jerry conly, a democrat from virginia, a democrat from maryland who are trying to craft a narrow enough resolution that it will get enough democratic votes to pass. and so i would be surprised if the president loses this vote. it s a balancing act, though, a narrow enough resolution to
toughness and if this debate comes out the right way, if congress supports the president, i don t think the world community is going to doubt president obama s leadership. all right. let s talk about the chemical weapons issue here. there s been an agreement that was signed back in 1992. syrian not signing on to that and the size of the arsenal that syria has been able to amass has been unknown. however, the french government has reported that they believe syria has about 100 tons of different types of chemical weapons, their program consisting of sarin and mustard and cyanide gases and we also know that the arsenal can be stored and moved from five different locations. that s something else that some people have been critical about, the fact that the obama administration has tipped their hand to say we re m coming after this to say that we re giving assad the time to move any of his operation to different locations. do you think, though, the evidence that exists so far is
