(VOVWORLD) - Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue is paying an official visit to China at the invitation of Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China Zhao Leji. The visit is of great importance to maintaining high-level exchanges and contacts as well as mapping out strategic directions for bilateral ties and concretizing common perceptions between top leaders of the two Parties and countries.
Cold War rivalries resulted in a lack of official contact between the US and China for decades. Leaders like Mao Zedong, Deng Xiaoping and Jimmy Carter, and even countries such as Pakistan played a role in the long road to normalisation.
The visit took place at a time when the two countries are celebrating the 15th founding anniversary of their comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership. The trip marked a new historic milestone in the Việt Nam-China relations.
