FRANCONIA â They mistakenly call it Soudertown (and are corrected when they do), but people all over the state know Souderton Area School District for having had full-time in-school programs this school year while other districts weren t, state Rep. Tracy Pennycuick, R-147, said at the April 29 Souderton Area School Board meeting. I just wanted to tell you that your name and your leadership has gotten out to Pittsburgh, Beaver County, the Poconos. They want to know how you made the decision so early on, you stuck by it, the parents were given a choice â virtual if you re not comfortable, in person if you are comfortable â and your kids are thriving, she said.
On April 29, the Souderton Area School Board will vote on a $138 million proposed final budget.Â
Those won t be the final numbers, though, district officials stressed at the April 14 school board Finance Committee meeting.

The proposed final budget follows the state required timeline for the budget process, but isn t the final vote, she said.Â
That will come on June 17, before which additional information will be received for changes to the budget, Director of Business Affairs Brian Pawling said.Â
The proposed budget tentatively includes a 3 percent tax hike, but that s not likely to be the final number, he said.Â
