The good news is, they have backtracked. Rep. Stella Quimbo announced that they have decided to drop SSS and GSIS as sources of funding for the proposed Maharlika Sovereign Wealth Fund.
The best use of taxpayers’ money, the best investment that delivers the best outcomes has to be the University of the Philippines and the Philippine General Hospital. Yet, the budgets of these institutions are being cut by President Junior’s Budget department.
President Junior should go beyond the current sugar shortage and fix an industry that has resisted fixing for decades. Otherwise, Junior will spend his entire term firefighting the industry’s troubles.
