As the Fall 2022 semester ends at Purdue and the university prepares for a new president on Jan. 1, President-elect Mung Chiang announced Tuesday (Dec. 20) several updates to the university leadership team and a new structure for research and partnerships at Purdue.
President Mitch Daniels and President-Elect Mung Chiang met with members of the Iranian Cultural Club on Monday (Nov. 28). The group had reached out to the President’s Office on behalf of all Iranian students, faculty and staff seeking to discuss the situation in Iran, where the ruling regime has been violently suppressing protesters and students for nearly two months. The group shared their concerns for the safety of their family and friends in Iran.
Though President Mitch Daniels is stepping away from the presidency of Purdue University at the end of December, he will not be going away entirely. At the requests of President-elect Mung Chiang, Purdue’s board of trustees and the Purdue Research Foundation Board of Directors, Daniels will remain for now as PRF chair – in an unpaid, voluntary capacity. The PRF Board of Directors on Wednesday (Nov. 16) voted unanimously to amend PRF’s bylaws to open up the possibility for this designation.
