On the occasion of the ongoing session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Congress President, Leendert Verbeek met with the President of the Parliamentary Assembly, Rik Daems and with the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Marija Pejčinović Burić, on 20 April 2021.
Both President Daems and Secretary General Pejčinović Burić underlined the unique role of the Congress in the institutional architecture of the Council of Europe and the paramount importance of the local and regional authorities grass-root contribution to addressing the challenges faced by the member States of the Council of Europe.

CHISINAU (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 19th April, 2021) Moldova s President Maia Sandu said on Monday that she discussed the country s political situation with the President of Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), Rik Daems, and thanked him for supporting democratic reforms in the country.
Sandu is currently on an official visit to PACE headquarters in Strasbourg, France on Daems invitation. She will take part in the PACE s opening session on Monday and is expected to deliver a speech.
