David P. White will be stepping down later this spring from his role as national executive director and chief negotiator for the entertainment media industry’s largest union after a 12 year run, SAG-AFTRA announced on Friday.
“David has been an invaluable advocate for our members and deserves immense credit for SAG-AFTRA’s success over the past decade,” SAG-AFTRA president Gabrielle Carteris said in a statement. “He brought us out of a dark time and into a period of stability and tremendous accomplishment. After Donald Trump resigned from SAG-AFTRA on Thurdsay post being asked to leave his post at the coveted organisation, the union has passed a resolution banning the former president from ever applying for readmission.
The decision was made over the weekend as the union cited “his antagonism of the union’s journalist members and disregard for the values and integrity of the union.

Days after former President Trump canceled his membership of SAG-AFTRA, the show business union moved to ban Trump from ever applying for readmission on Sunday.
On Sunday, SAG-AFTRA announced in a statement that it passed a resolution banning the former president from applying for readmission. The decision was made during a Zoom conference the day before, citing Trump’s “antagonism of the union’s journalist members and disregard for the values and integrity of the union.”
“Preventing Donald Trump from ever rejoining SAG-AFTRA is more than a symbolic step,” SAG-AFTRA President Gabrielle Carteris said in the statement. “It is a resounding statement that threatening or inciting harm against fellow members will not be tolerated. An attack against one is an attack against all.”
