A favourable autumn pattern brings a string of good to great days of surf to Victoria later this week. The catalyst is a large, slow-moving high pressure system that’s just starting to settle in over the southeast of the continent.

New pulse of S groundswell rebuilds early next week, likely peaking Tuesday
Days of S/SSE groundswell settle beneath light winds mid-late next week
Just as the past fortnight’s run of easterly swell ends, our south swell window reactivates. A vigorous frontal system moving out across the southern Tasman Sea on Saturday morning triggers a steep building trend in south swell from Ulladulla south on Saturday afternoon.
The bulk of this leading pulse is on track to peak overnight, leading in still sizeable, well overhead surf across Sydney, Newcastle and the mid North Coast on Sunday morning. This first pulse should subside to far more accessible levels from Sydney and Newcastle south on Sunday afternoon.
