Opposition parties are calling for Eastern Cape Premier Oscar Mabuyane’s head to roll over allegations that he fraudulently registered for a Master's programme at the University of Fort Hare.
ActionSA Eastern Cape chairperson Athol Trollip on Monday called for Eastern Cape Premier Oscar Mabuyane to step down following news of his allegedly fraudulent master’s degree. It has been reported that Mabuyane obtained a fraudulent master’s degree from the University of Fort Hare as revelations of a research proposal allegedly put together for him by the academic staff at the university surfaced.
On 13 January 2023 ActionSA issued a statement lamenting the sad state of affairs at Eastern Cape schools. We highlighted the fact that the Eastern Cape government forfeited R205 million meant for the construction & maintenance of schools is a tragedy. That money formed part of the R1.64 billion education infrastructure grant for the Province for the 21/22 National Fiscal Year.
